Molly Wizenberg to speak at Cancer Lifeline's luncheon event

As a big fan of prominent food blogger Molly Wizenberg's 2009 book, A Homeade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen, I'm so excited that she's speaking at Cancer Lifeline's upcoming fundraising event on March 24.

In her book, Molly chronicles her personal experience of her father's battle with cancer. She shares her culinary journey through healing, as well as recipes she cooked for her father. It's a beautiful book (with amazing recipes), and as someone who has been going through a similar experience with my mother for the last decade, I appreciated Molly's touching, emotionally moving stories of hope and healing.

I'm looking forward to this event!

Identity and website for Community Center for Education Results

We recently designed an identity system and website for Community Center for Education Results, a new nonprofit that is working to improve education outcomes in our region.

The website was designed and built to be a clearinghouse for new information related to our education system, and to inform, streamline and publicize the many working parts of the regional collaborative project, the Road Map for Education Results.

One of the unique aspects that Kenner Lodis Creative brings to the table is the perfectly appropriate creative talent to each particular job. On this project, we were honored to partner with a small team of talented designers/IA experts/developers including Chrissy Gonzalez, Joan Li and Matt Stein from Working Concept.

We wish Community Center for Education Results the best in their very important work!

Seattle Milk Fund rebrand and website

Seattle's oldest non-profit organization, Seattle Milk Fund, recently launched a brand new brand identity and website - and we were honored to direct this project!

Seattle Milk Fund began with circles of volunteers donating jugs of milk to needy families over 100 years ago. As they transition into an organization that provides financial aid grants for single mothers, we were asked to design a new identity, corresponding design system and website.

Though a small organization, SMF's identity system was an inconsistent, ever-changing kit of parts. The new system provides consistency across all platforms, making communication from SMF instantly recognizable.

With 100 years of civic service, Seattle Milk Fund's history mirrors that of a developing Seattle. As such, that history is a central component throughout the identity system. We combed through their physical archives to find signature stories and imagery, and incorporated them whenever possible.

While history plays a central role in Seattle Milk Fund's new system, we also wanted to capture the important work the organization is doing now. We worked with one of our favorite photographers, Kathryn Barnard, to obtain beautiful photos of the women and families both directing, and receiving benefits from, Seattle Milk Fund today.

We loved being a part of expressing the good work of this organization. It's our hope that SMF's fundraising will be better supported through an updated identity that carries more meaning to their work -- and that ultimately, more Seattle-area families will be able to afford childcare, allowing mothers go back to school for additional education!

*The project is on-going and new examples will be published as they develop.

Local Artisans Treatments make a splash this fall

This fall, we helped Vida Spa create and launch new therapies -- the Local Artisan Treatments -- in the US and Canada.

The treatments are fresh, different, true to Vida Spa's customized, ayurvedic focus. Most importantly, they tell a story.

By integrating specific combinations of herbs sourced from local farms into a facial and a massage, Vida Spa therapists, trained in the ancient art of Ayurveda, are able to bring the right healing benefits to each individual.

For example, an anxious person with dry skin, sleep issues and a cooler body temperature might receive a treatment with the calming, moisturizing properties of nutmeg and sesame oil. Someone who tends to feel warm, sluggish and who fights oily skin might experience a different treatment that incorporates the cooling elements of sage and rose petals and the lighter flaxseed oil.

We reached out to media in both the US and Canada, and were happy to garner placements in DailyCandy, Vitamin Daily, Ideal Bite, Elle Canada, WHERE, and multiple blogs.

The buzz is catching up to them. President Allison Hegedus was also interviewed for Men's FASHION, which was distributed in The Globe & Mail, a national Canadian newspaper, this past September.

Design work

We are in the midst of designing our website - long overdue! (Hey, it's hard to fit in your own marketing when you're busy making everyone else so beautiful.)

We're using this handy blog in the interim, but I wanted to also pass along Brian Lodis' (design director) website, where one can find work samples representative of our quality.

You better sit down for this!
